To write the poems that live
in the ink smudged on my fingers
is to give form to the demons
with possession of my hands,
to draw their shapes in the corners
of the pages and watch them
stomp and shout when animated
by the breath of my thumb,
to hover over their impish dance
with an eraser, pondering
whether the strange creatures might
really be angels after all.
