NB Submissions CLOSE on October 1st 2021 and REOPEN on February 1st 2022!
Amethyst Review invites you to submit up to five poems (of any length) and/or prose pieces of up to 2000 words, fiction or nonfiction.Simultaneous submissions are ok as long as you notify us if a submitted piece is accepted elsewhere. No previously published work at this time please (including on personal or other websites).
We ask that your work engages in some way with spirituality or the sacred. This is not so much a place for proselytizing, but for thoughtful and respectful inquiry. Work submitted should be of a high literary quality, and show awareness of the context of contemporary poetry, fiction, and creative non fiction. New! I’m also happy to look at reviews of work (poetry collections, fiction and non fiction titles) that you think will fit with Amethyst‘s remit.
Please email all submissions to: Sarah.Poet@gmail.com with the subject head Amethyst Submission. Work should be pasted into the body of the email or attached as an MSWord doc. Include a short third person author bio (c. 50 words), with relevant site links if you wish. Copyright remains with the author at all times. You are welcome to address me as editor or Sarah (or Dr Law if wanting to be formal!).
Depending on the volume and quality of work received, the Review may publish new work weekly or more frequently (it’s daily at the moment). I aim to respond to all submissions within one week. Please follow Amethyst Review for regular updates.
Writing and the Sacred: would any readers and/or past or future contributors to Amethyst Review consider submitting a short (say, 500 words) piece on how you feel writing and the sacred are connected? It would be good to start a conversation about this – all points of view welcome; submit as usual. If submissions are sufficient Amethyst Review will feature an occasional series of 2-3 submissions in ‘conversation’.
I look forward to reading your work.
