No Choice – a poem by William Fogarty

No Choice

I have—for many years—
fallen in love with phantoms—
enamored—of morning dew—
shuddering—at impermanence.

Grabbing a fistful—
It slickly slips—
through my fingers.

Inevitably I return—
to reddening leaves—
the ground of life—
the Bodhi Tree…
