Prayer – a poem by Rachel Ann Russell

Prayer

I tried to solve the problem
by talking to God

Being organized about quests
First I parsed the Psalms
Then I tried silence
And ended up with cold fog inside
Pressing me down or maybe
Holding me up

So that I look up and see the hawk
Gliding on the morning
Blue sky richer than gold
In circles of such joy
