The Shofar's Call
gathers us up
with the sheep and the cows
to huddle together
in barn, temple or home,
bleats the sustained distress
of all who need help,
releases the broken spirit
within its bent form,
soars like a gull taking flight,
leaves the echo of yearning
roaming across the sky.
