Out Comes a Jungle – a poem by Liz Craig

Out Comes a Jungle

For Hana Lukac

Touch my side and out comes a jungle*
My crown a temple of trees
Lifting my heart of light,
I gaze through oceans

Coaxing navel fires
I point my mountains
to stretch the sky,
to feed my streams

Melt nose into knees
to fold the universe and
Rejoice! for we are shining,
iIlluminating our hills

Relax for there can be no shadows
when we are the moon,
a lapping shore of pearls
