Breathe – a poem by Gabriella M. Belfiglio

Breathe

I handle this pebble
in my pocket
like a rosary.
My fingers know
the cool smooth surface—
its tiny ridge
at the top.
I do not pray
to Jesus or Ja
or Christ or Allah
to Buddha or any other

I simply breathe.
