Dayspring
No gentle rising, yours —
dayspring comes
heaven crashes into earth
into my life
forever
right now
angel armies shout their praise
a white horse claims the battlefield
we sup with the Lamb
I strain to catch a glimpse
and doubt my normal senses
The glory may appear guised
a chat with a neighbor across a back fence
egg salad sandwiches with my husband
a heap of socks that need matching
while heaven infuses every tree, every stone, every
fiber, every breath, every second, every
note, every particle of light and
color and darkness
“Earth’s crammed with heaven”1
