Hadewijch – a poem by Adam Walters

Hadewijch

Breaking the self as wunderkind,
as child in stigmata.
Fests decayed to festive,
restored sporadic
in waves de l'estiu,
in honour of the prime disfigurement.

There to build in stone beyond white,
memory, love midoneother dependent.
Strung resemblance to the motley
avaricious Word. (That is
the root of nuptials, that is
in the old sense grotesque).
Strong echo of the branch
impervious, wherearound
the bees theirselves configure.

In bearings from the quaint apocalypse,
agonrite of outerwit,
return of number to numbers,
return of Sight to sight.
From accidence of hollander,
incunable divine.
