I’m delighted to share news of this recently published anthology from Amethyst Press! Writing & The Sacred: An Anthology of Reflections gathers together a wide range of reflections on writing and the sacred. Some first appeared in Amethyst Review; others were written in response to an invitation to contribute to this anthology. Their authors – poets, novelists, editors and creative practitioners – each bring a fruitful, personal engagement to the theme. Here are writers for whom language is holy in itself, and writers for whom the daily practice of writing is a spiritual discipline. Some listen for the sacred in silence, or trace it through loss, illness and the natural world. Drawing on Christian, Jewish, Vedic, shamanic and pre-Christian sources, these essays offer food for thought and contemplation to anyone who writes, reads or prays.
