Thalassic Hymn – a poem by Elijah Perseus Blumov

Thalassic Hymn

I am a shell cast off from You, the main—
I had no choice.
Lift me from the crashing surf,
and give me voice.

Hold me to Your hearing—
I am here to be Your earring—
and I will whisper, small and thin,
the distant echo of Your din,

The din that is Your beating blood.
I am mute if you do not uphold me.
Hold me, please—enfold me.
